Director for the Clinical Research Programme

The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) is one of the top leading cancer research institutes in Europe, hosting world-renowned scientists that have made significant contributions in both basic and translational aspects of cancer biology. The CNIO Research Groups are organized in several thematic programmes, including a Clinical Research Programme consisting of Clinical Research Units covering both clinical and translational approaches to research in different cancer types.
We are seeking for a highly motivated world leading clinical oncologist with a strong clinical research background to lead and coordinate the Clinical Research Programme. The Programme Director will be responsible for setting up and developing research priorities within the programme, including the coordination of the existing Clinical Research Units, the establishment and supervision of strategic alliances with hospitals of the national health system, as well as the recruitment of new talent, and in general the investment in the strategic research goals of the programme, working closely with the Vice-Director of Translational Research and the CNIO Director. He/she will also have a critical role in fostering and coordinating educational/training activities within the programme. The Programme Director may also set up and lead a Clinical Research Unit at the CNIO to pursue his/her own research interests in any aspect of cancer clinical research, although this is not a requisite.

Se Requiere

Applicants should hold an MD/PhD degree specialized in clinical oncology, with more than 10 years’ experience in clinical research, with excellent leadership and managerial skills, ability to communicate and establish effective collaborations with other clinicians and basic researchers, demonstrated track record in obtaining funding through national and international calls, and excellent spoken and written English.
