Advanced Degree for the Crystallography and Protein Engineering Unit

3 years NIH-funded research scientist position is available for a highly motivated structural biologist in the Crystallography and Protein Engineering Unit at the CNIO’s Structural Biology and Biocomputing Programme.
The succesful applicant will be involved in a number of drug discovery projects, that involves all the stages that lead to the determination of protein structures in the presence of inhibitors for further development.

Se Requiere

- Ph.D. in Protein Crystallography.
- Strong background in X-ray crystallography, molecular biology and protein expression/purification.
- Cloning and expression of proteins using any of three types of cell: E. coli, insect cells, and mammalian cells.
- Optimization of protein expression and purification.
- Skills in automated initial screening and visualization, including optimization of crystallization conditions from initial hits.
- Data collection at synchrotrons.
- Data processing, structure determination and analysis.
- Experience in crystallography in the presence of inhibitors.
- Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS). Data collection, processing and modeling.
- High level of English.
